Hello,
Hope you had a great workweek. Friday evenings are now special for me, for it brings a chance to speak with you through Hastākshar, our weekly conversation series.
While last week Divyank spoke about the problem with wrongly focussing on completing tasks, I wish to speak with you a far baser emotion: sadness. Why do we get sad? And how can we change it?
For the longest time, I believed (perhaps still do) that existence is the root of all my pain and suffering. If I didn’t exist, I wouldn’t have to go through the problems of life. Does this make sense to you? For some reason, I romanticized this existential concept.
I understand that it’s hilarious, illogical, even downright stupid to think like this. Then I heard a better solution. The line between happiness and sadness is – wait for it – attitude. The inability to accept reality causes pain. Beautiful, isn’t it?
Instead of challenging why you or bad situations exist, you simply have to accept that they do. ‘It is what it is’ in its most real form – is accepting the truth. And the truth can never make anyone sad.
Do you agree with me? Or not?
