Hastākshar Issue #29: Why Children’s Stories = Happy Life

“Bacche Sadguru hote hai,” said my Risk Management professor in college.

He meant that simply by observing them, we can learn everything we need to.

But it’s not just the kids.

If you don’t have one around, even their story books are more than enough to get you enlightenment.

We’ve heard this hundreds of times.

The mother duck lays many eggs, they all hatch.

But one baby in particular, is not as beautiful as the others.

He’s grey and dull, unlike his bright yellow brothers and sisters.

So everyone ridicules and mocks him.

His ugliness makes him very sad. So he runs away from them.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Many years later, he’s wandering alone and sad.

Still believing that he’s the ugly duckling.

By accident, he watches his reflection in a pool of water.

He can’t believe it. He’s beautiful. More beautiful than every other duck.

It hits him. He never was a duck. He is a swan.

Dear duck, how many baby swans have you called ugly?

The story is not about the bird, na?

That dumb kid in school, new joinee in your department, your distant cousin, your security guard – you once assumed they’re all ugly ducks.
But they turned out to be swans.

And most importantly, you often look at yourself as the ugly duckling, too.

Don’t let the external/ internal doubts get to you.

Don’t underestimate yourself, you don’t know your destiny yet.

You’re a swan. You’ll transform soon enough.

(Send this to your friend who doesn’t believe in themself to assure them that you believe in them)
