Hastākshar Issue #31: Aryan Khan, You, Me. We’re all on drugs.

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ve heard of the Aryan Khan-NCB news story. You probably have an opinion on it. The funniest one that I heard was ‘If Aryan Khan is punished, I’ll lose all faith in money.’

Why are drugs bad though?

They make you delusional, are addictive, and not in the society’s larger interest. So, by this definition, I realised that all of us are ‘druggy’ – the only relief is that our drugs are outside NCB’s banned substances list.

The biggest drug of all

Cocaine and heroin are bad. But there’s something much more powerful. It makes us forget our pain and problems, creates an illusion of pleasure and is a great distraction from reality. Hence, it’s the most popular and widely used.

You use it, so do I.

The shastras speak about it too. They call it Bahirmukh. I call it ‘EXM’ – far more powerful than LSD. EXM stands for ‘everything except me’. And that’s the worst drug, the worst habit we’ve formed.

I’m interested in everything except the world inside. Travel, money, society, security, food, laughter, status. Thinking and living in it all because I can’t get myself to look inside.

I have the power to change it. So do you. And we will change it.

The only question is: when?
