Hastākshar Issue #35: Ram Left Lanka But Never Came Home

‘May the glowing light of diyas…’ – vaale messages aa gaye?

Overexcited family gatherings, supposed to be devotional Poojas, sweets that are too sweet, the same old gifts – sab ho gaya?

And, how about ‘let’s not burst any crackers this time’ ke messages?

I’m sure many of these would have some mention of Shri Ram coming home to Ayodhya (with Supreme Court’s permission); but I refuse to believe that Ram came back.

Don’t get me wrong.

I’m not looking to start any political debate.

Anyway, coming back to Shri Ram

Tell me, if he came back, how is it that I’ve never seen him? Have you seen him?

When we chose not to share our excess wealth with the ones who were in need, I didn’t see him.

When we put ourselves before others and violated the basic principle of Ram Rajya, I didn’t see him.

When we misused his name to advance our selfish interests, I didn’t see him.

When we lit up hundreds of lights and diyas, but ignored the darkness within ourselves, I didn’t see him.

Hence, proved. Ram did not come back.

Had Ram come back, he would have either punished us, wept for us, or left again.

Or perhaps he’s in exile; waiting for you to find him, invite him, welcome him back.

…Whenever you’re ready.
