Hastākshar Issue #36: Nykaa will take you higher

Aapko kitne share lage?

If you were one of the lucky ones that wins the IPO lottery, did you book listing gains?

Or were you one of those that decided never to subscribe to an IPO again?

Either way, Nykaa was in the news.

And on everyone’s stories.

We all wanted to be a part of that conversation.

The feminists celebrated India’s first self-made female billionaire.

The traders had their eyes on short-term profits. 3 din me paisa double!

The analysts discussed (in)correct valuations.

The skepticists argued about how retail investors always lose in the stock market.

What did you do?

One of these? Or something else?

Everyone was fixated on only one part of the story.

Not only did they comfortably ignore the rest, but they were uncomfortable discussing the other aspects.

These were the things they couldn’t relate to.

We all have this idea of who we are, and who we want to be.

Anything outside of these two points is boring, scary or hateful for us.

If you call yourself a feminist, you’ll cheer for Falguni Nayar.

Smart, money-minded? Then see profits/ loss everywhere.

Intellectual? The idea, mechanics and impact will attract you.

Better than the rest? Outcast? You’ll always blame the system.

I think it’s possible for you and me to expand this idea of who we are, so that we don’t run away from anything.

Why place limits on our thoughts and identity?

Why restrict ourselves? Let’s welcome everything.

Think about it, and Nykaa will take you higher.

To a higher level of understanding.
