Dear friend,
Wish you a very Happy (Gregorian) New Year!
I know I’m two days early, but I didn’t want to take a chance.
You see, last week Divyank was telling me an anecdote from the Mahabharat which triggered a series of responses in my brain.
After winning the war, Yudhishthir is crowned the king of Hastinapur.
People are happy, all is good.
Until one day, a rishi walks into the court.
He requests Yudhishthir to save his yagya from asurs.
On hearing this, the dutiful king assures the rishi that he will assemble his army and come for the yagya protection from the very next day.
The rishi leaves with a heavy heart.
On his way back, he bumps into Bheem.
Seeing the sadness, Bheem asks him what’s wrong.
“Yudhishthir has promised to come and protect me tomorrow.
But I’m worried. What if the asurs kill me today itself?’
A smiling Bheem assures the rishi, and moves towards the city bell.
Ringing the Vijay Ghant (victory bell) with all his energy, he captures everyone’s attention.
People wonder, ‘The Kurukshetra war is long over. What victory is Bheem celebrating?’
And a laughing Bheem announces,
“I’m so happy to know that my brother has won. Yudhishthir has won the biggest battle of all. He has victory over death.
How else could he know that he’s going to stay alive until tomorrow to help the rishi?”
Kal ka kya bharosa?
Do today, express today, and live today.
So, wish you a Happy New Year in advance!
