God had informed Arjun and Kaveri that their son Arya would die on his wedding night.
However, he is still alive and with his wife Siddhi in their room.
Arjun is confused about how destiny changed.
Arjun is pleasantly surprised. He asks god how his son survived.
“Thank you so much Prabhu. Thank you for saving my son!”
“I can’t take credit for this. Arya’s life is a gift not from me.
Someone else saved him. And most importantly, even they don’t know what they’ve done.”
Arjun was confused.
“No puzzles, please. Tell me: what happened? Who saved him?
What’s their name? Where do I find them?
I want to thank them. I don’t mind them giving them everything I own.”
And then god shared the series of events.
After the wedding, Arya was with the family, dancing and having a good time.
Kaveri asked him to spend some time with her before he went to be with Siddhi.
In the room above, Siddhi was waiting for Arya.
That’s when she heard the cries of a woman.
Peeking out of the window, she saw a pregnant woman crying.
She looked frail, hungry and sick.
“Food. Food. Please give me food for my baby.
I haven’t eaten anything for two days,” she sobbed.
Siddhi knew she had to be there for this helpless lady.
She glanced around. There was no food in sight.
Suddenly she remembered something. Her mother had given her a shagun basket of sweets and dry fruits.
She opened her wardrobe and took out the basket.
Showing it to the poor woman, she asked, “Will you eat this?”
“Yes, yes. Anything is fine. Thank you so much.”
Since Siddhi did not have any other means, she tied the basket to one of her sarees and lowered it out of the window.
The woman took two laddoos and hungrily devoured them.
She hesitantly looked up, as if asking for permission to take more.
Siddhi smiled, ‘Don’t stress didi, this entire basket is for you. Take it all.”
With tears rolling down her cheek, the woman said, “Thank you so much. You don’t know what you’ve done. Who knows: without your help, my child may have died.
May god bless you. I see from your clothes that today’s your wedding.
Akhand Saubhagyavati Bhavah!”
Akhand Saubhagyavati Bhavah. May your fortune remain unscathed.
“You see Arjun, Arya was about to die but Siddhi’s actions and the poor woman’s blessings changed destiny.”
So who knows what plans we can change!
You have the power to alter destiny, too.
We may not know how, but our good deeds will save lives.
We are Siddhi.
We may not realise, but others’ actions save our life.
We are Arya.
And in case you’re wondering about who that poor lady was, her name was Ganga.
Arya and Siddhi didn’t know that their fate was entwined with her and her unborn child.
But that’s a story for another time.
