Hastākshar Issue #88: (Cont) Shrenik and family leave after the fire

King Shrenik of Kaushambi decreed that those whose house catches fire will leave the city.

When the royal kitchen caught fire, he and his family left the city.

The settled a little outside the city.

The rules were quite tricky.

Although Shrenik left his palace, he was still a king.

The people loved him, respected his authority, and still looked to him to solve their problems.

As a result, they kept going to see him.

The ministers had to perform their duties, guide the king, and share updates.

They too, kept visiting the king.

This extra crowd meant creating facilities for them.

New buildings, meeting rooms, lodging, and boarding facilities – so the royal administrative duties could be discharged easily.

And before we knew it, the township had converted into a town.

King Shrenik’s move created a new city outside Kaushambi.

Since it was King (raja)’s house (gruh), the city came to be called Rajgruhi.

That soon became the kingdom’s capital.

Like Shrenik, you are going to face problems.

Work, relationships, personal growth, spirituality – you will end up in uncomfortable situations in all areas.

You can choose whether to leave the zone you’re in without knowing what the future holds for you.

But when you be true to yourself and leave, people will follow you and build a king’s jewel.

So ask yourself: are you ready to build your Rajgruhi?
